Welcome, I’m Isabela.
Life was just beginning for me then - I was set to start college and move out of my hometown for the first time. It felt as if my entire world stopped. I lacked moral support and knowledge on what to expect in an abortion. I was 13 weeks when I experienced an uncomfortable and excruciatingly painful surgical abortion. I felt alone, vulnerable, and ashamed to reach out to family and friends about what I had just undergone. Gratefully, I made it through this procedure and was relieved that I had the choice to terminate the pregnancy, though I could have benefitted from having someone to walk me through the process, lean on, and hold space from every step of the abortion.
Shortly after, I felt numb and disembodied. In recent years, I only just discovered how disconnected I was with my body because I repressed my abortion for so long. As I am healing through this, I’ve learned trauma-informed ways in releasing the pain stored in my body, processing grief and loss, and reframing my painful story to an empowered one. When I look back, this experience is spiritual to me in which I have learned to express gratitude for my 18 year old self’s decision.
Today, I make this conscious decision of sharing my story and supporting those whose life is about to begin, sometimes have no choice but to terminate, and/or need someone through every step of the process to hold their hand.
I prioritize QTBIPOC+ adults and young people, My approach is trauma-informed, somatic based, and prioritizes rest.
